The Spokane Public Schools Foundation was founded in 2006 by local public education supporters like you — parents, alumni, business leaders, school district retirees, and members of the community — who understood the value of a strong public school system. The sole purpose of the Foundation is to provide smaller ($200 – $1,000) grants to teachers and the local school community through a streamlined application process. This allows educators to engage their students in activities and programs they may not have otherwise had access to due to budgetary constraints within the general education fund of the school district.
The application process is straightforward and entails filling out an application form that is reviewed by the SPS Foundation board members. The major criteria used in the selection process include:
- Creative and innovative activity or program
- Goals and measurable outcomes
- Number of students impacted by grant
- Student need based on free and reduced lunch population
- Budget amount
The Spokane Public School Foundation’s major corporate fundraiser is the annual Bowling Extravaganza. All money received through corporate or team sponsorship and event activities go directly to students in our local classrooms. Spokane Public Schools Foundation is a 501-3c organization.
